A small experiment in being known
The Thought Thief.
Your choices stay on this page.
No camera. No microphone. No account.
Pick a word. Keep it in your head.
Don’t click the word. Tell Kashogi only which column it’s in. Keep the same word for all three answers.

Three answers. One word.

Show me the trick
This is a mathematical illusion, not an AI reading your thoughts. Your answers give away just enough information. After each answer, your column is placed in the middle and the words are dealt again.
New position = 7 + ⌊old position ÷ 3⌋
Positions count from zero. Apply that rule three times and every possible starting position lands at 10. Kashogi reveals the eleventh word. Mathematics can look like magic. A machine that learns your habits can, too.
Sealing a prediction
Please wait…Try to be random. Kashogi’s prediction stays hidden until you move.
The verdict
Inspect the sealed predictions
Each SHA-256 seal is displayed before its move buttons become available. After your choice, the hidden prediction and random salt are revealed and checked against that same seal. The seal does not establish when a prediction was made outside this page.
- Message: round | prediction | salt
- Seal displayed before your move
What is actually running here?
The first act is a rearrangement trick. The second act uses six small statistical models that learn your left/right choices and short sequences. Their weights change according to how well they predict. It starts from scratch every time; there is no pretrained language model, personality assessment, or claim of guaranteed accuracy. Genuine random choices remain unpredictable.
The experiment makes no network requests, uses no cookies or browser storage, and keeps your choices only in this page’s memory. Reloading or restarting resets the experiment. Ordinary website hosting still processes requests to deliver the page. Kashogi does not need to know your name to make this point: a handful of choices can contain more information than you expect.
